5th Green Flag – Biodiversity

We were honoured for Derek Mooney from RTE to visit the school to raise our fifth green flag. Scoil Chlochair Mhuire featured on his radio show Mooney Goes Wild on June 12th 2016.

You can listen to the podcast of Derek Mooney’s radio show from Scoil Chlochair Mhuire here:

4th Green Flag – Travel

We were delighted to receive our 4th Green Flag for travel in 2014.  Ms Crowley and all the pupils in the school worked really hard to promote safe and alternative means of travel.  They focused on walking to school in a safe manner whilst also developing an awareness of the benefits to both themselves and the environment.  One of the ways Ms Crowley achieved this was through the school initiative ‘WOW – Walk On Wednesday’ which operates successfully in collaboration with parents.  Thank you to all the parents who continue to volunteer their time, it would not be possible without you.

3rd Green Flag – Water

In 2012 Scoil Chlochair Mhuire received our 3rd Green Flag for Water.  In order to achieve this flag we had to reduce our water usage throughout the school and in our homes.  We were delighted to welcome David Stanton T.D. to our school to help raise our flag.

2nd Green Flag – Energy

In 2010 all our hard work saving energy was rewarded with a 2nd Green Flag.  For this we had to look at the steps which could be taken to reduce energy consumption and raise awareness of climate change in our school.

1st Green Flag – Litter and Waste

There was great excitement when the school received our 1st Green Flag for Litter and Waste.  This theme encouraged a sense of personal pride and responsibility in ensuring our school and community will always remain litter free.
