Optimum inclusion
In September 2020 an early intervention pre-school class for children with autism was opened, this compliments the special class for children with autism which was opened in September 2019. Here we facilitate optimum inclusion as part of the school community with plenty of access to mainstream activities as appropriate.
The classroom is physically structured in accordance with the TEACCH Model, with specific areas for individual learning, group work, play and lunch. Our multi-sensory room, the ”Kid Cave” consists of fibre optic lights, bubble tube, projector, mirrors, a variety of textiles, mood music and fragrances to stimulate sensory awareness. This room can be used to stimulate a child or help a child self-regulate. We have an enclosed sensory garden for all the children of the school. to use and enjoy.
